Applying

Apply at least a year in advance — spaces are limited to six per term. Terms run twice yearly (January–May and August–December). Acceptance decisions are announced 3–4 months before the program starts. Applicants typically attend a Weekender conference after applying.

Life as an Intern

What Interns Do

Interns complete roughly 5,000 pages of reading across 30+ texts and write about five papers a week, discussed in a weekly three-hour session with the senior pastor and staff. The week also includes staff and elder meetings, all public services, staff prayer, one-on-one lunches with each elder, deacon, and staff member, weekly office administration, and service reviews. This is a full-time commitment; outside employment is not possible. Interns do not teach publicly or oversee ministries — the program is for observation and formation.

Stipend

$1,300/month to cover living expenses. Interns purchase their own health insurance.

Housing

Housing with basic utilities and furnishings is provided within walking distance of the church. Single interns share apartments; married interns receive family units. Family housing is limited, especially for families with multiple children.

Who Should Apply

Men aiming toward pastoral ministry, sent and affirmed by their local church. A college degree is usually expected. Applicants affirm the church covenant and statement of faith. International applicants are welcome and should apply early to allow for visa processing.
