Pastoral Internship

A full-time residency that exists to equip men pursuing full-time ministry with a biblical vision of the local church and pastoral ministry. Interns observe and learn from the pastoral staff, especially the Senior Pastor: regular meetings, travel with the Senior Pastor, and sermon preparation discussions.

What Interns Do
About 9,000 pages of reading with a short paper on each book, chapter, and article, discussed weekly with pastoral staff. Interns meet 1-on-1 with lay elders, attend elders' and leadership planning meetings, and are members expected at all weekly gatherings. Students at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary may receive up to 18 credit hours.
Stipend
A modest living stipend. Health insurance is not provided. Many interns rely on savings, raised support, or a spouse's income.
Housing
When possible, the church arranges housing with a church member to reduce expenses.
Who Should Apply
Men pursuing full-time pastoral ministry, especially as a lead, preaching pastor, who affirm MVBC's Statement of Faith and Church Covenant and can become members of MVBC during the internship.
